Porsche 911: Ceramic Window Tint + Full Front PPF
Protecting a Porsche 911 Against Utah's Rock Chips and UV — Without Changing Its Look
The Porsche 911 is one of the most recognizable sports cars in the world — and one of the most common vehicles we see at Tint Citi Utah for protection work. 911 owners tend to be particular about their cars, which means they want protection that's genuinely invisible. No orange peel in the PPF. No color shift from the tint. Just protection.
This 911 came in for two services: full front-end PPF and ceramic window tint on all glass. The owner drives the car regularly on I-15 and I-80 — both notorious for rock chips — and wanted the front end protected before the Utah summer road debris season hit.
Full front-end PPF coverage on a 911 includes the full hood, full front bumper, full front fenders, side mirrors, and door cups. We use computer-cut templates specific to the 911's body lines — no bulk trimming on the car, which eliminates the risk of scratching the paint during installation. Film used: KAVACA Ultimate PPF with a self-healing top coat and 10-year warranty.
The 911's hood has a distinctive shape with a slight rise toward the windshield. Getting the PPF to lay flat across that transition without lifting at the edges requires careful squeegee work and heat application. Our installers have done enough 911s to know exactly where the film wants to lift and how to prevent it.
For the windows, we installed ceramic film at 50% VLT on the front side windows (Utah legal) and 35% VLT on the rear side and back glass. The owner specifically requested ceramic film — he'd had standard tint on a previous car and was frustrated that the car still got hot. Ceramic film's infrared rejection is the difference between a car that's tolerable in July and one that's actually comfortable.
Total installation time: one full day. The PPF requires 24 hours of cure time before the car can be washed, so the owner picked up the following morning. The finished result is exactly what he wanted — the car looks completely stock, and the front end is now protected against the rock chips that would otherwise be a $500–$1,500 paint repair.
